Portfolio III, Portland, Oregon, 1986-89 Upon the completion of an exhibit of bronze pieces in 1985, emphasis shifted fundamentally towards explorations in wood. Always close at hand for bases, and retained as precious scrap, wood presented a fresh challenge in process, control, and focus. The application of paint on wood emerged naturally from constant drawing endeavors, and a serendipitous encounter with oil pastels while living in Barcelona, Spain, 1976-77.
